How to Use Evening Primrose Oil for Problem Skin Conditions

Evening primrose oil is a product that has conventionally been used by women to treat a variety of health concerns, including PMS symptoms, breast tenderness and even arthritis. This oil is typically taken in capsule form as a dietary supplement, with noticeable results within the space of a few months.

What some people may find surprising, however, is that the use of this product is not limited to being ingested, and can be applied topically to treat a variety of skin conditions. It can be used neat, or can be mixed with other oils or natural products to create a mixture that can be applied to the body and the face.

One of the main uses of evening primrose oil in topical applications is for the treatment of acne, which can be a painful and unpleasant condition. Due to the visibility of acne on the face and other parts of the body, sufferers find it frustrating when they can not find a cure through medicine or cream bought over the counter.

There are a number of excellent oils and other natural products available, however, that can yield excellent results for acne, and evening primrose oil is one of those products. For those suffering from the skin condition, this particular natural product can actually calm flare-ups and reduce redness on all areas of the body with frequent application.

The reason for this is that the oil has an essential fatty acid known as Gamma Linoleic Acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties and therefore has the power to soothe and calm areas of the skin that are inflamed. Results can be noticed reliably rapidly, but it is with repeated application that significant benefits over the long-term can be enjoyed.

As well as treating acne, the oil is also great at treating other skin conditions which are inflammatory or cause redness. These can include rosacea and regular skin blemishes. To treat these it is well worth investing in a bottle of high quality evening primrose oil or some capsules, and using a few drops of the product on inflated areas when needed.

As this oil is quite greasy in nature, not a lot is needed, and it is best applied at night-time and left to fully absorb before lying down on your pillow. With that said, it can easily be incorporated into creams or other moisturizing products for a less greasy but also less powerful effect.

Like many types of oil, this product is particularly great at moisturizing and hydrating the skin, and can be used all over the body. One thing to note is that this particular product has an unusual scent, so is often best mixed with other oils for a more fragrant product. As mentioned above, applying at night-time on the face is best for an anti-aging, moisturizing treatment.

On the body, it can be applied to damp skin after getting out of the shower, and should be gently massaged in with broad strokes all over the body. For those who suffer from dry skin conditions, use of this product over an extended period of time can have exceptional results.

Lastly, many evening primrose oil products include added vitamin E, which can extend the shelf life of the product. As this oil has the tendency to spoil quickly, the added vitamin means that users can enjoy a single bottle of the product for up to two years – much longer than the few months that the product returns for otherwise.

In conclusion, this particular oil is an exceptional health and beauty product, especially for women. If you suffer from any dry, red or painful skin conditions, it is well worth doing more research into what evening primrose oil can do for you and how you can integrate it into your skincare or health regime.

How to Use Argan Oil As a Moisturizer for Skin and Hair

This particular oil has many different applications, but it is especially useful as a hair and skin moisturizer. To get the full benefits of this oil, however, it is important to make sure that it is applied correctly. Here are a few ways to correctly apply argan oil for best results in your daily and weekly beauty regimens.

For those using the oil on their face, it can be used neat, as only a few drops are required for great results. This product is considered a 'dry' oil, meaning that it is not greasy in texture and will not make your skin appear as such. For this reason, it can be used as an effective day moisturizer under makeup, as well as a rich night time moisturizer.

To apply, make sure that your face is thoroughly clean beforehand. After you have washed your face as usual, make sure that your skin is still damp before applying. This will not only help the oil spread over your skin more easily, but will also seal in moisture, leading to a fresher, more hydrated face.

Only a couple of drops are necessary for moisturizing the face and neck in the evening or in the morning. Take care to apply the oil in gentle, circular motions, much in the same way as you apply a regular moisturizing cream. It helps to squirt a few drops in the palm of your clean hands and fingertips, which can then be applied to the face and neck.

This can also be mixed in with your regular night cream or day moisturizer for an extra hydrating effect. This can be especially useful during the colder months of the year, as the skin can otherwise become very dry, and argon oil can be the perfect remedy for parched, flaky skin caused by the harsh weather.

Applying this beauty oil tithe hair can be done with several different methods, each one having its own advantages and disadvantages. The first method is applying the product before washing your hair, and this can result in a less 'heavy' appearance and a lighter treatment, as you will be washing the oil out of your hair in the shower.

To use this method, squirt or pour a small amount of the oil into your palms, and then massage into your hair before showering. Start at the scalp and the roots of your hair, then work the product down to the tips of your hair. Wrap your hair up in a shower cap and leave the oil to penetrate and moisturize your hair for a good half hour before washing it out with regular shampoo.

For a shiny look and as a leave-in condition treatment, try spritzing your damp hair with the oil after freshly washing your hair. As argon oil is so rich, it is recommended to not use any other conditioner or the argon pre-treatment beforehand.

Towel dried hair works best, as applying the product on damp hair will seal in moisture and prevent a greasy look. It will also help you spread the oil out even through your hair. As with your face, only a small amount of the product is needed as it is so rich.

Instead of focusing on the roots, work the oil through the lengths of your hair, and then dry and style as usual. This will give your hair a soft and shiny finish, although care should be taken to avoid applying too much, although this can be remedied by getting under the shower again and rinsing a little bit out.

10 Skin Care Tips For Women Over 50

Taking care of your skin is a must at any age. But once you cross 40, you need to kick it up a notch with a few extra steps. Age really takes a toll on your skin. It weakens the collagen structures impacting the texture and tone of your skin. The result, you are left to grapple with ugly wrinkles and blotchy sagging skin.

While you simply can not turn the clock back on life, you can at least age gracefully. And, here are 10 beauty and skin care tips to do so.

1. Go easy on the makeup

Women over 50 should opt for light, more natural looking makeup. Make sure you are using the right makeup. The makeup items should be of good quality. It should also be designed for your skin type.

2. Do not step out without sunscreen

The sun causes more damage to your skin than anything else. It is the culprit for wrinkles and brown spots. Build your skin's protection by applying a sunscreen every day. Slather it generously on your face, neck and hands. Do not set for any sunscreen less than 30 SPF. Carry a travel size sunscreen in your handbag so that you can reapply it whenever necessary.

You can also reduce exposure to the sun by wearing long sleeved shirts, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.

3. Soothe dry skin

A common complaint in women over 50 is that their skin appears parched and listless. It tends to get flaky at times. This is due to its low moisture content caused by frequent sun exposure. Also, with age, the body's natural ability to produce moisturizing oils is reduced.

One way to restore skin moisture is to use a moisturizer. You must moisturize the skin after a bath or a wash. You can lose lotions as well as essential oils such as almond oil. Vitamin E is an important compound in any skin product.

Do not use cleansers that dry out the skin further. Test the product before you go all out and apply it. Opt for a creamy cleanser that leaves your face soft and supple after every wash. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water. In addition to that, you must also eat a healthy diet.

4. Avoid very hot water

Your bathing water should not be too hot. It robs the skin of its natural oils making it look dry. Let the water be lukewarm. If your skin is excessively dry, avoid washing your skin too often.

5. Exfoliate on a weekly basis

Your skin repairs itself on a daily basis. The dead cells accumulate on the top layer of the skin. It is this layer of dead skin that gives you a tired look. Here, exfoliation on a weekly basis is a must. You must exfoliate your face as well as the body. The dry brush exfoliation technique before a bath really works wonders for your skin. It not only gets rid of dead cells but also improves blood circulation helping conditions such as varicose veins.

You can use some of the readymade facial masks and body scrubs. However, if you are only about about using natural ingredients on your skin, you can make your own body scrubs.

6. Give up smoking

Smoking causes premature skin aging. So, stop smoking.

7. Anti-aging creams

While most people disclaimer the need for anti-aging creams, you can use them to supply your skin with a little more collagen. Collagen is the structural protein that holds your skin together. There is a less amount of collagen produced as your grow older. Also, the fibers become weaker resulting in saggy, droopy skin.

Anti-aging creams help boost the natural production of collagen in the body; Thus, they play a crucible role in skin repair and rejuvenation. They make the skin firmer. However, do review the products well before you buy and use them. Vitamin A products are great at improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Most of them are only available as prescription products.

8. Get enough sleep

It's not called beauty sleep for no reason. The skin repairs and regenerates itself while you sleep. Getting 6 – 8 hours of deep sleep will conveniently take care of skin issues such as dark circles, puffy eyes and fine lines around the mouth.

9. Exercise to the rescue

Exercise can also change the way your skin looks as it improves blood circulation. It also regulates other body functions ensuring the nutrients are properly distributed across the body.

10. Check your skin

You should inspect your skin regularly. Sudden changes in the texture or tone must be brought to the notice of your doctor.

When dealing with aging skin, there's one thing you need to remember. You might not be able to look younger than you really are. But you can definitely look good for your age and comfortable in your own skin!

What Is a Skin Tag and Its Causes?

Skin tags are also commonly known as acrochordons. These can also be described as unsightly growths that can very commonly appear on the neck and also on various other parts of the body. They are however completely and thoroughly harmless. So there is no medical book in the world that pressurizes on removing these tags.

However when these tags are present on any visible parts of the body, it is advised to remove them in order to be appealing to any onlooker.

Causes

This condition particularly occurs after the person has passed his midlife period and is entering into old age. If one has to state the cause medically, it can be said that bunches of blood vessels and collagen are trapped inside the thick bits of skin that cause these tags to arise. In other words it can also be said that they are a result of the skin rubbing against skin. They are often popular and commonly found in folds and skin creases.

These skin tags are common in the following types of people.

• Those people who are overweight or obese. This is because they tend to have more creases and folds in their skins.

• Most pregnant women because of their hormones getting secreted.
• An individual with diabetes.

• People who use steroids illegally also tend to have tags in a lot of places in their bodies. This is because they interfere with the muscles and body.

According to a survey done by the National Institutes of Health in the States, at least 46% of people are prior to this condition and are going through this particular condition. Studies done by experts' show that a very casual genetic component is existing and this can be genetic. All people with close family members who have skin tags are also very likely to develop this condition for themselves.

The other terms for this condition are cutaneous papilloma, fibro epithelial polyp, cutaneous tag, fibroma moll scum, Templeton skin tag and soft fibroma. All these terms are purely medical and scientific. These terms are used by medical experts or doctors in their research. If you are planning on getting rid of your skin tag, it is advised to use medically accepted practices and procedures. Otherwise the whole process can backfire and you might end up with another sever condition. So take your decision wisely. It is one of the important things to remember.

How To Get Good Skin Naturally With Natural Supplements

If you think about skin and beautiful skin in particular, you often think about skin care and how it helps to get good skin. But there are other factors, too, that play a part in making the skin look and feel nicer, and those factors are the ones we often overlook as they are not as obvious.

I mean, you apply a good natural age defying face cream on and if it's any good it will make you look ab bit better immediately and or course will give last results when used regularly. But drinking a skin health boosting superfood smoothie daily is a bit more difficult as we see no immediate results and the effects might not be so obvious so soon.

That does not mean that superfood supplements are any less important in getting nice skin though! It's best if you combine both natural skin care as well as foods and supplements that make your skin beautiful and healthy from the inside out.

It's essential that you maximize your fruit and veg take!

You might not want to hear it, but there's just no way around it, fruit and veg are vitamin-filled and health-boosting and your skin just will not look radiant and beautiful if all you eat is process foods and meats! Especially if you are not eating 5 portions a day, a superfood supplement can be very beneficial.

Speaking of superfood supplements , why not try a superfood supplement specifically for the skin . The one I recommend it's full of natures best skin nourishing superfoods like green tea extract, grape seed extract and kiwi fruit powder, which all boost your general health as well as your skin health.

For example, green tea benefits health in many ways:

  • It gives you energy
  • It improves your mood
  • It may help with weight loss
  • It's good for your heart
  • It can prevent cancer

What else can you do other than using good skin care products, eating fresh foods and taking a skin health boosting supplement?

Last but not least – do not stress about your skin and any skin problems you may have ! Stress and worry is very unhealthy, and if you are taking these tips, even a few of them, your skin should be getting better and better. If I were to choose three most important ones I would say water, veggies & superfoods and a good natural day cream , so if you are not doing those yet, maybe start with them!

What Causes Varicose Veins Might Surprise You

You might have noticed that over time, your legs have been covered with little blue lines, and maybe you've even panicked because you feel as though it came out of nowhere. You may have even thrown your hands up in the air in frustration and asked, “What causes varicose veins?” It's not a bad question to ask if only for the reasoning that says if you know what causes them, you can avoid getting them, right?

Well, it's not quite that simple. First, it's important to think about whether or not there is a danger in their appearance. The truth is that it is rare for varicose veins to pose a serious danger. However, no two human animals are alike, and these variations throw a proverbial wrench into things, so it's important to maintain a conversation with your doctor about what course of action is best for you.

Regarding causes, medical experts agree that, for the most part, varicose veins can be caused by:

Age Leading to Vein Elasticity – When a blood vessel is compromised by time, it can lead to a vein being unable to maintain its shape. This, in turn, causes blood to actually pool in the veins and become varicose. While this can affect youngger patients, it is a condition that is usually associated with an older individual.

Pregnancy and Circulation – The human body goes through a number of changes during pregnancy, and this includes how blood flows in the legs. However, the one advantage to having an incidence of varicose veins during pregnancy is that they usually subside on their own without medical treatment over the course of a few months to one year after giving birth.

Not Staying Healthy – Your hear it on the news all the time about the sunset of obesity in everyone from children to adults & how it leads to some major health issues. What's more, the toll that it takes on your health can be prevented by maintaining a healthy weight. As it turns, though, you also have varicose veins to look forward to if you carry excess weight.

Again, you may ask yourself, “What causes varicose veins?” As it turns out, there are a number of causes including (but not limited to) age, pregnancy, and obesity. It's also important to know that women are more prone to get them, as are individuals that sit or stand for long periods of time. Family history is also a cause of which to be aware. In short, every patient is different, which means the causes and risk factors to be on the lookout for will vary from person to person. Finally, be aware that you can not fully prevent varicose veins, but you can actively participate in helping reduce the risk of getting them, as well as explore treatment options that help reduce their appearance.
