Why Vitamin C Serum Boosts Collagen Production In The Body

The proliferation of skin care products that contain harsh chemicals clearly put people's health to risk. Some manufacturers of these products intentionally “hide” these ingredients and did not include them in the labels. Consumers are blind from these modus and continue to patronize these products.

But there are meticulous users who have the habit to scrutinize every ingredient included in their skin care products and when they see even just a small proportion of those “unsafe” components, they do not buy them.

However, there is one ingredient that is commonly included as one of the main ingredients in most skin care products that all consumers should not worry. And this is vitamin C.

As we all know, vitamin C is an important nutrient that the body needs. We need this to boost our immune system, to prevent us from getting colds or flu. But what most people do not know is vitamin C's important function in maintaining a healthy skin.

Vitamin C helps boost the production of collagen in the body. Collagen is a protein that contains the elasticity, firmness and suppleness of the skin. Without enough collagen, the skin will sag and wrinkles, laugh lines and fine lines will appear. But with more collagen in the body, the skin will be smooth, soft, glowing and younger-looking.

This is exactly the reason why vitamin C has been used as an ingredient in most skin care products, particularly for anti-aging. And it comes mostly in the form of a serum.

Vitamin C serum has been found to be very effective in erasing wrinkles, laugh lines, fine lines and skin sagging. With regular use, it can make the skin younger looking, glowing and full of radiance.

We can get a lot of vitamin C from fruits and some vegetables that we eat every day. But this is not enough to produce a reasonable amount of collagen.

Dermatologists say if applied topically and directly on the skin, vitamin C is much more effective since it is easily absorbed even into the deer layers of the skin.

But be aware that using vitamin C serum will make your skin more sensitive to the sun's ultraviolet rays so make sure you put on sunscreen with a higher SPF before going out of your house in the morning.

Another important thing to consider is that vitamin C serum will degrade easily and very quickly if exposed to air and light. So if you want to buy a bottle of vitamin C serum, look for those that are packaged in air tight and dark containers that both air and light would hard to penetrate.

If you are not sure about the quality and effectivity of the vitamin C serum you want to buy, ask your friends or relatives who have already used it. If still unsure, buy from a company with years of experience in producing the serum. Because for sure, this company is a trusted source. Of course, you do not want to gamble on your health.

7. Curb your caffeine eye.

That morning espresso shot that you need to wake up, is alright but carrying the coffee trail all through the day is definitely a call that you curtail that Caffeine take. Organic Chocolate Scrub For Your Body Not Your Mouth

Being a Chocoholic, you can imagine my delight, when I came across a chocolate body scrub. I had heard of coffee scrubs before, but never “chocolate” scrubs. I have to say that, holding this jar choca block full of chocolate, looks extremely enticing. On opening it, I am overwhelmed by the amazing chocolate aroma, which reminds me of a rich home backed chocolate cake. To top it off, it is organic, eco friendly, and has zero calories (that is if you can stop yourself from tasting it).

The actual scrub is made with Cacao Bean Chaff, which is combined with Epsom salts, and Rice Bran Oil. All in all, a feast for the body and senses. The most amazing thing is that this product really is the answer to our skin solutions. The chocolate scrub, exfoliates our skin, while the Epsom salts detoxes us, and finally the oil mosturises us, all in one go. This is a great product to travel with, as it is an all in one cleanser and moisturizer.

Believe it or not, chocolate is good for cellulite. Not if you eat it of course, but if you use it externally on your problem areas. As, chocolate contains caffeine, which increases our circulation, lymphatic system and blood flow. I have found since using it a couple of times a week for the past month, that my skin is looking firmer, more moisturized, and younger. Another treatment that this can be used successfully for is varicose veins. With the combination of all of the above, and the massage, it provides huge relief.

Interesting enough chocolate has been used in beauty and body products since the early 1800s. This was when they discovered how healing cocoa as a treatment is. There is always some value in these old wives tales, that have been around for 100s of years, and I am sure this one can not be wrong. The aroma of chocolate has always been known to be calming, which is why many of us become chocoholics, as it clams our nerves.

There is one big problem with the chocolate body scrub, and that is that every time I smell it, I start craving chocolate. So I have to be very firm with myself, and ensure that I do not give in, other there will be a lot more cellulite to get rid of in the long run. Fortunately the aroma stimulates my endorphins, and gives me a happy feeling. I am hiring soon to be able to find a chocolate face scrub in the near future.

Laser Treatment For Rosacea – The Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Living with a skin condition is not easy, especially when it's on parts of the body which are visible. Rosacea, or acne rosacea, is a skin disorder leading to nose pimples and redness on the forehead, cheekbones, and chin. In some cases, rosacea may also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears.

The condition is often progressive, embarrassing and uncomfortable for the sufferer.

The inflamed pimples and redness of rosacea can look a great deal like acne but blackheads are almost never present. One of the first signs of rosacea is the tendency to flush or blush easily.

Who does it affect

Many have observed that the condition typically begins at any time between the ages of 30 and 50 and it's likely to affect people who have previously suffered from acne or severe acne.

Some people are more likely than others to get rosacea:

  • Women (especially during menopause)
  • People with fair skin
  • Adults between the ages of 30 and 60.

but anyone can get this skin disease.

There are strong signs that ethnicity is a cause in the potential to develop rosacea. People from Celtic or Scandinavian ancestry who have lighter skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes are particularly sensitive. It's often been called the “Curse of the Celts.”

There is evidence to suggest that rosacea could have inherited and sufferers are likely to have someone in their family tree with the condition. People of all colors can get rosacea.

It is said that women are three times more likely than men to get rosacea, particularly during the menopause. Hot flushes are one of the most common symptoms of menopause and some women find that this can also trigger rosacea for the first time. Unfortunately symptoms can persist after the menopause too.

Women, however, are not as likely as men to get severe rosacea.

We should not overlook the effect rosacea has on men, especially in matters of the nose. In men, the nose is primarily affected and the nose may become large and disfigured (this is known as Rhinophyma) Rosacea can mimic other skin conditions, including acne and sunburn, eating it the nickname the great pretender.

Primary Signs of Rosacea are:

  • Flushing – Frequent redness of the face which looks like blushing. This facial redness may come and go, and is often the earliest sign of the disorder.
  • Persistent Redness – Facial redness is one of the most common signs of rosacea, and may resemble a blush or sunburn that does not go away.
  • Papulopustular rosacea – Bumps and pimples. Small red solid bumps or pus-filled pimples often develop. While these may resemble acne, blackheads are absent and burning or stinging may occur.
  • Visible Blood Vessels – Many people with rosacea will have small blood vessels (spider veins) become visible on the skin.
  • Inflamed eyes / eyelids – This can cause symptoms such as dryness, itching, gritty sore eyes or excess tears.
  • A swollen nose – This occurs mainly to men, the nose becomes red, larger, and bumpy.
  • Thicker skin – The skin on the forehead, chin, cheeks, or other areas can become thicker because of rosacea.

Ways to Treat Rosacea:

  • Ointments, creams and oral medicines are most effective in people with papulopustular rosacea
  • Oral antibiotics and cream antibiotics with anti-inflammatory properties work by constricting blood vessels so that the skin does not look as red, and can also be used to treat the inflammation.
  • Laser technology can successfully treat Rosacea and can help remove visible blood vessels, but it is highly unquestionably that these treatments are available on the NHS.

Laser treatment provides an effective therapy for treating this upsetting condition. Excellent results are possible with the proper use of laser energies, not only in the cosmetic appearance but also in a marked reduction in the upsetting flushing attacks of Rosacea.

The laser treatment usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour, with patients experiencing only minimal discomfort and maybe a slight stinging sensation when administering the laser pulses.

The recommendation is to have four to six treatments, spaced three to four weeks apart.

Get Rid Of Wrinkles Without Surgery

Wrinkles Without Surgery

If you're like most people over 35, you've spotted some unsightly wrinkles around the eye and neck area. In some cultures, these wrinkles are worn with a sense of pride and accomplishment; but in North America they are dreaded and most women (and men!) want to get rid of them as soon as they start to appear. While a facelift and other surgical procedures may provide fast results, there are often dire consequences. Healing time can take weeks and some procedures can be quite painful. And there is the cost to consider, which is prohibitive for many people.

Luckily, there is a better, more natural way to get rid of wrinkles and keeping them at bay. In fact, there are several methods you can use to get rid of wrinkles without surgery, without pain and without going broke.

Cucumber slices: Place cool cucumber slices over your eyes for 15 minutes upon arising, and before going to bed. These help to calm those puffy eyes and can help diminish the look of wrinkles.

Sunscreen: It's best to avoid the sun altogether, but if you love to go to the beach in the summer, make sure you wear adequate sunscreen. Nothing will age you more than the strong rays of the sun.

Do not smoke: Some experts believe that smoking releases an enzyme that breaks down elastin and collagen. The result? More wrinkles that will make you look older than you are. If you must smoke, try to cut down (BONUS: it will help your overall health in the process!)

EFA's: Essential fatty acids are found in several foods like salmon and olive oil. Vitamin E supplements can also give you the EFA boost you need. These are high in Omega-3's which help to plump and nourish skin.

Get your Z's: If you do not get enough sleep, your body releases the hormone cortisol, which breaks down skin cells and leads to early signs of aging. Aim for at least 8 hours per night. If you have trouble falling asleep, try drinking an herbal tea (decaffeinated) or take a long hot bath. Meditating helps as well, as it calms the mind and releases stress.

Do not squint: If you find yourself squinting to read labels and other items, get reading glasses. Squinting can overwork the facial muscles, which results in wrinkles over the long term.

Eat clean: This does not mean pouring soap on your food! Choose wholesome, natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Overly-processed and 'junk' foods will not only pack on the pounds but provides very little nutritional value. Eating better quality food will help fight toxins and free radicals in your body, and will help to prevent premature aging.

Visit a dermatologist: If you really want quick results and you want some extra help, visit a dermatologist for a chemical peel or a dermabrasion treatment. These are non-invasive ways to get quick results without breaking your budget.

Getting rid of wrinkles the natural way may take longer to see results, but many of these treatments have other benefits too. They will improve your overall health so that you look and feel better every single day!

How Stress Affects Your Skin

First let us define what stress is: a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. So the question that rises most often is how does stress affect our skin? When stress is activated, our adrenal gland dumps cortisol into the bloodstream. The real danger begins when a person is more stressed and their body can not regulate the levels of cortisol in their system. As a result, the body starts showing signs of increased sensitivity, breakouts, itchiness, and in some extreme cases, stretchmarks.

Stress is one of the body's biggest enemies. Cases of extremely dry or oily skin, acne, rosacea, signs of aging, psoriasis, herpes, eczema, allergies or even a combination of any two or more of these conditions, stress will find a way to make them worse. This can end up as a never-ending battle.

Now I know what you are thinking, is there any way for me to win this battle? The good news is yes you can. Most importantly, you are going to treat the skin condition itself first. Tips for treating ailments such as acne and rosacea, for example, can be found in my some of my other articles. Next and as equally importantly, is to break the daily vicious cycle of inflating stress on ourselves.

Although that sounds easier said than done, it can be accomplished. Everyone deals with stress in different ways. Many people tend to respond better with a quiet approach, such as stretching, deep breathing, massages, reading or creative hobbies. While others lean toward a more aggressive approach, such as sports, cardio workouts or dancing. Regardless of which approach you prefer, putting your 'stress buster' into commission for at least three times a day at ten minute intervals is recommended. When your stress level is higher, then try fitting in a thirty minute continuous session.

Once you find out the approach that works best, you are headed in the right direction. Understanding that the stress in our lives will never go away, knowing how well we respond to it will mark the difference between a healthy lifestyle versus an illness driven one. Turning frustration into contentment is essential.

When it comes to skin problems knowing how to deal with stress will leave your skin healthy and glowing. Keep in mind that this is not going to resolve itself overnight, but by taking these first steps will get you on the right path.

Fairness Cream Claims: A Hit or A Miss?

Thanks to the Indian society's fetish with fair skin – India is considered the largest market for fairness solutions. From renovated players to national level players, almost everyone seems to be endorsing fairness products. Our high list of endorsements has led companies to come out with fairness creams for both men and women.

India now has a million dollar fairness industry. However, how well these fairness creams deliver and their impact on the Indian society is yet to be understood in-depth.

Several international beauty companies have their own range of fairness creams and lotions that claim to deliver a beautiful, glowing fair skin in just a matter of weeks. The principal that works behind these imported skin care products is the melanin production and its control.

Our skin color is determined by the structure and amount of melanin in our skin. The more the melanin production, the darker the skin color and vice versa for the fair skin. As per the dermatologists worldwide, achieving fairness through these wonderful creams is possible only up to 20% but not beyond that.

These fairness creams help block the harmful sunrays to penetrate into the skin, prevails secretion of melanin, reduces tan and thus makes skin look fairer.

While not all fairness creams may prove their mettle, some premium brands deliver what their claim through their imported face treatments . Skin care companies such as Olay and Loreal are often rated at the top for their fairness creams, lotions and serums. Years of research and scientific breakthrough has undergone their products and then comes a revolutionary product such as Olay's natural white healthy fairness cream and Loreal's White Perfect range of creams. These creams have often been recommended for achieving that flawless fair look, which has been the desire for many men and women.

Loreal has also come out with 20+, 30+ and 40+ anti-imperfections whitening cream. The brand believes that it is about not only fair skin, but also a beautiful flawless skin without any blemishes and imperfections, which makes up a fair skin. The cream removes the stress and pollution signs from the younger skin that is in their 20s. With their 30+ whitening cream, the brand concentrates on fine lines that start to appear along with losing fairness. The 40+ cream focuses on reducing wrinkles and bringing back the youthful glow that the skin loses at this stage.

While Indian consumer's affair with fair skin remains a debate since ages, these creams reinforce the need to have a flawless, blemish free smooth skin rather than just fair skin marred with imperfections. These brands are certainly revolutionizing the way we have been looking at fairness creams since decades.

Reasons for Redness on the Face
